Medical Officer

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Community Health Nurse to join our team at AfyaHub Medical Center. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in child immunization, prenatal and antenatal care, infant care, pregnant women, and school-age children and youth health services. As a Community Health Nurse, you will play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of our community members, particularly focusing on these specific areas.

Child Immunization:

Administer and manage child immunization programs, ensuring timely and accurate vaccinations for infants and young children. Educate parents and caregivers about the importance of immunizations and maintain proper records.

Prenatal and Antenatal Care:

Provide comprehensive prenatal and antenatal care to expectant mothers, including regular health assessments, education on nutrition, and monitoring of maternal health. Conduct childbirth preparedness sessions to empower mothers for a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery.

Infant Care:

Offer guidance and support to new mothers on infant care practices, including breastfeeding, nutrition, hygiene, and growth monitoring. Conduct developmental screenings and provide early interventions as needed.

Pregnant Women:

Provide personalized care to pregnant women, conducting regular check-ups, monitoring fetal development, and addressing any health concerns. Offer counseling on maternal health and safe pregnancy practices.

School Age Children and Youth:

Offer guidance and support to new mothers on infant care practices, including breastfeeding, nutrition, hygiene, and growth monitoring. Conduct developmental screenings and provide early interventions as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
  • Valid nursing license issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in community health nursing, with a focus on child immunization, prenatal and antenatal care, infant care, pregnant women, and school-age children and youth.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English and Kiswahili
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and engage effectively with community members.
  • Knowledge of local health challenges and cultural sensitivities.
